When I was in college, I was a hormonal health DISASTER. Truly. Ironically, I was working to achieve my "best ever" physique at that time. I competed in a few NPC Bikini bodybuilding shows while managing two jobs and going to college full time. I was also on hormonal birth control and anti-depressants, battling a toxic relationship, and living 5 hours away from home for the first time ever. Unfortunately I was slowly damaging my unique female hormones--without even realizing what I was doing because I was chasing after a physique that, truly, I was never going to be able to achieve. I can vividly remember going on about 10 weeks of my very low fat, low carb, high protein diet--and absolutely CRASHING. I felt like I had blacked out, and when I came to, I was sitting in a local grocery store parking lot absolutely demolishing about a dozen donuts. I cried. I felt ashamed. I beat myself thinking that binging those donuts would be the reason I placed last at my upcoming competition.

What a horrible way to live?! As a result of this toxic cycle, when I stopped competing, I did not ease out of my restriction thoughtfully. I would eat as much as I wanted, oftentimes until I felt sick. I starting drinking with my college friends--at once point 4 nights a week. I had HORRIBLE periods. I was stressed. I worked late into the night and early in the morning. I would drink several large tumblers of coffee each day. I suffered from acne that was difficult to get rid of, and of course gained all the weight back I lost from competing. I worked as a personal trainer and had gym patrons tell me more than once that I had gained weight. Talk about poor body image coming off of a time where all you cared about was looking "lean".

I continued to suffer as I went into grad school with brain fog, irregular sleeping patterns, panic attacks, painful period cramps and bloating, constipation, migraines, abnormal hair growth, large cystic jawline acne.

Since then, I have made it my mission to help other women find peace and connection with their body AND their life. I have been able to transform my passion for fitness and nutrition, into tackling health from a holistic and whole-woman approach. I do not want other women to go through what I went through. I do not want women to suffer every time they get their period. I help women conceive so they can start a family. I help women ease into menopause gracefully so they feel confident. I help women feel empowered on their wellness journey postpartum. I help women with PCOS feel seen and heard while also gaining education about their health. I help women understand how to properly fuel their body in a way that supports normal and healthy hormone levels.

My mission through my coaching practice Jess Be Well is to help women achieve Hormonal Harmony! You deserve to be free to experience the greatest joys of life while feeling your best!
